Online Data & Information Network for Energy (ODIN)

You need to Login to access this option.

The Open Access module only allows you access to a limited subset of the data that ODIN hosts. To access the full set of features you need to (register and) login.

Engineering Databases

The European Commission JRC structural materials database (MatDB) is oriented to international materials testing standards and recommendations. It covers mechanical and thermo-physical properties data of engineering alloys at low, elevated and high temperatures for base materials and joints and includes irradiation materials testing in the field of fusion and fission, tests on thermal barrier coating for gas turbines and mechanical properties testing on a corroded specimen.

Data Catalogs

ODIN data catalogs provide an insight into the content of the scientific databases to which ODIN provides access. The data catalogs are largely unaffected by the access level of the data sets (open-access, registered-access and restricted-access) and so provide a complete overview of the content of a particular database. Presently there are two catalogs, both of which are specific to MatDB (the database of experimental data for engineering alloys). One catalog provides an overview of the data sets hosted by the application, while the other lists all the data sets that can be cited using the DataCite framework.

ODIN is the Online Data & Information Network of the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) and provides data management services to the European energy research community. It hosts the engineering database MatDB together with other information related to European research in the area of nuclear and conventional energy.

The JRC instance of MatDB is freely available to the European research community. Alternatively, for any organisation preferring to manage its own data, there is also a commercial version of MatDB available from a Technology Transfer Partner.

The MatDB Data Retrieval module allows you to select and view MatDB data. Without an account, data retrieval is limited to the collection of Open Access data. To access the larger collection of Open Access and registered access data, please Login.

The MatDB data entry module allows you to enter and manage your test data in MatDB. Data entry rights are granted on a case by case basis. If you are interested to use MatDB for managing your project data, please submit a request from your My Profile page.

MatDB supports open, registered and restricted data access and modules for entering, browsing and retrieving data. MatDB is also enabled for data citation using DataCite DOIs and its RESTful machine interface leverages interoperability standards for engineering materials data. For further information, please contact the ODIN Web Administrator.

Most ODIN applications and databases require you to login. If you do not have an account, please navigate to the Registration Page and complete the required details. You will then have immediate access to the public features of ODIN.
